Biala Peninsula evolved as an offshoot from Biala Box Hill in June 1980. In November 1981, a Committee of Management was formed and the group received its first grant from the Commonwealth Schools’ Commission, which was used to supplement ongoing operational costs. Biala Peninsula became an incorporated body in 1986.
After a series of venue changes within Mornington, concerted efforts were made to establish a permanent home for Biala Peninsula. By 1990, the building project had advanced to the planning stage. The Shire of Mornington provided the site at Barrett Park, Elizabeth Street and construction of our building commenced in 1991. Programs began operating from the new building in June 1992 providing services for 45 children with 6 staff members.
Today, Biala Peninsula is supported by a transdisciplinary team who provide support to children and their families.
