'EMU' Huddle

Term times:

Early Childhood Program of Support

The Emu Early Childhood Huddle is a program for children 3 -5 years and is run by a team of specialists consisting of an Occupational Therapist, a Speech Pathologist and a Specialist Early Childhood Educator. The team works with you and your child individually as well as in a small group setting.

Group Goal:

· To support your child’s development through a specialist, multidisciplinary approach

· To combine individualised support for your child’s development with a small group setting to practise new skills and meet other families to form social connections and informal support structures.

Expected Outcomes:

·· You will expand your capacity to support your child’s development.

· You will  be continue to build social connections with other families.

What is included in the program?

The program runs over 2 school terms. During each term the huddle groups will have a focus on a different developmental area. Please see program schedule outlined below:

Weekly - 19 sessions

Individual sessions with your Key Worker tailored to your child’s needs and the goals you set with your keyworker. This could be an  Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist or Specialist Early Childhood Educator.

Sessions can be held at Biala, at your home or in a community setting (such as childcare or kindergarten).

Fortnightly - 9 sessions

a)  Group sessions (2 hours) on Fridays at Biala for the child and their parent/carer to attend with the Huddle team. We offer different Huddle groups for different age groups and developmental stage.

b) Clinical review meetings: The team of therapists meets fortnightly to review the participants progress and adapt the program to the child’s needs. Your Key Worker is your main contact and coordinator of supports in the Huddle.

End of Program 

Summary report documenting your child’s progress against the Huddle outcomes and individual goals for your child, set together with your Key Worker.

Annually

A Family Service and Support Plan (FSSP) will be developed by you and your Key Worker when you first meet, to make a shared plan and set goals for your child.

This plan is reviewed on an annual basis.

Cost:  $344.33 + $387.98 for report preparation. Total cost : $7,274.63

2024 Group Session Dates and Time:

Weekly, commencing 19 July - 6 December 2024, 9.30am - 11.30am

* The cost includes session planning, set up/pack up, writing of case notes and a report for your child at the end of each program.

* Short notice cancellations do not apply, participants will be charged for all scheduled sessions, regardless of the number of sessions attended.

* Two weeks' notice to exit the program is required.
